Since Sliced Bread

SOLS Challenge Day 17
Our closest relatives are 750 miles away.  For 12 years, we have faithfully put in our Sunday calls to family members.

Recently, though, we discovered Skype.  What a fun twist to our weekly conversations!  We get to speak "face-to-face."  We are able to share in the little changes-- braces on my neice's teeth, the new tile in my sister-in-law's bathroom, or my nephew's new dorm room.

Sunday calls have a new look, a new feel, and a new sound, thanks to Skype.  It's the best thing since sliced bread.

Note: There are many ways to use Skpe to connect with other classrooms or even authors!  Here are some resources:

  1. Isn't it great? I agree, & I imagine it's a real treasure for those who are so, so far away like in Afghanistan & Iraq. It's so nice to hear about your conversations.

  2. You're like my sister--that's how she talks to her grandchildren. I haven't yet figured it all out--but I soon must, given the excitement generated by your post. Thanks for the encouragement!

  3. Skype is amazing. Remember when the idea of video chatting was a fantasy?
