The SchoonDogs' Summer Reading

Over at the Well Read Child, Jill Tullo is passionate about children's literature. In an effort to share her passion, she has asked folks to blog on Thursdays about what the children in their lives are reading. "The idea is to get the community of people who are passionate about reading with children together to share their book recommendations, experiences, and memories." I've decided to join in the fun and share my children's summer book choices.

After a year of strenuous reading for school, Matt, my 13 year old, picked up two fun books at the library yesterday. He chose The Dangerous Book for Boys by Conn Iggulden and Worst Case Scenario by Joshua Piven . Both books look fun and should give him some ideas for projects. We'll see what he comes up with!

Emily, my younger SchoonDog, is so excited to be reading Maximum Ride, The Final Warning by James Patterson. It is the fourth in the series about teens that can fly. Matt has read all of them, and she is so tickled to be reading the same books that her beloved older brother has read.

Because Matt doesn't really have a fictional chapter book going, tonight he and I are going to begin Skeleton Creek by Patrick Carman. I've read rave reviews at The Reading Zone blog. It will give us something we can do together; something to help us stay connected.

Here's to summer reading!
